Media Overview

In recent years, the media has focused more attention on OCD and its related disorders. For the most part, this attention is welcome and long overdue, and it increases the general public's awareness about OCD. We applaud the journalists who treat the subject with the seriousness it deserves.

Unfortunately, sometimes members of the media portray OCD as a somewhat comic, "quirky" personality trait rather than identifying it as a potentially debilitating neurobiological disorder.

One important part of OCD Chicago's mission is to serve as a resource to the media in an effort to help increase understanding about OCD and reduce the stigma of mental illness. We provide news outlets with accurate information and make experts available for interviews.
